It has been a busy term here in Junior Infants, packed with lots of fun and learning. We have enjoyed celebrating St.Brigid’s Day, World Book Day, Lá Glas, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter. It has been tough work eating pancakes made by the parents association, singing songs for St. Patrick’s Day, practicing dances for Seachtain na Gaeilge and listening to lovely stories read by Ms. Lewis for World Book Day. We also celebrated reaching 900 Dojo Points as a whole class with a party! We loved our Lap and Chat around the school yard, talking to our friends about worries we might have and ways to help.
All while this was happening, Junior Infants were mastering even more sounds and blending skills, working really hard to blend our sounds together, and working with Ms. Boyd on lots of tricky words (which are no match for them!). We have been practicing writing new letters and words, copying from the board by tracing and free-hand. We wrote about ways to be kind to one another and drew a picture to show how kind we can be.
We have enjoyed making all of the Numberblocks with playdough, using our imaginations to draw lovely pictures with chalk out on the yard, playing football, tennis and so much more! We have been working in the flower shop during playtime, taking on the roles of customers, florists and cashiers, along with patients, nurses and doctors in the doctors area.
We have learned all about life cycles this term too! We looked at the life cycle of a frog, made frogs ourselves and even got to see real life frog spawn and tadpoles out in the outdoor classroom. We have looked at the life cycle of a plant too, getting to plant sunflower seeds just in time for the sunshine to arrive.
I want to wish all of Junior Infants a Happy Easter. Enjoy the well deserved break!!

Term 1 Over and Out!
Junior Infants have been oh so busy over the last two months. We have started to learn how to read! Our sounds are coming along great and we are excellent at blending those sounds together to make words. We have also started reading, seeing our friends Emma, Luke, Rags and Pip in our book. We have also been enjoying learning lots of new words as Gaeilge, playing games to practice them. In maths we have been focusing on learning all the different ways we can see 1-5, making sets and even practicing our writing of some of the numbers. We really enjoy playing maths games and using our maths eyes to spot maths around our classroom and school.
We have also been busy learning new GAA skills and practicing our Fundamental Movement Skills in PE with Brian. We have been busy bees with our art as well, making lots of nice Christmas decorations to bring home. You can see them on our class tree. Our movement breaks and cosmic yoga has been full of the Christmas Spirit as well. Our class Advent Calendar gives us the chance to do so many fun things each day, even making a Christmas Kindness Jar to fill with pompoms for every kind act we do. We were also very excited to see Santa in our school, and were delighted and so thankful for the wonderful gift he brought to each of us. We loved performing our Christmas songs and poems as well. We went on the bus to Bundoran to see Paw Patrol in the cinema.
I want to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas. Enjoy your Christmas Holidays!

Welcome to Junior Infants!
Well done Junior Infants for making it to the end of term one in Holy Family. You have all worked so hard and have earned a well deserved break. We have been very busy over the term.
Junior Infants have been working super hard at learning the rules of the school, trying very hard to follow them because we know they keep us all safe. We have really enjoyed getting to know the school, playing in our new yard, doing PE in the hall and the basketball court!
We have learned lots of new rhymes and songs, in English and as Gaeilge, even Halloween songs. There have been lots of rhyming words that we have discovered. We have been busy practicing our counting, making sets and learning our shapes in maths. We have also been using our playtime to dress up as skeletons, doctors and bees.
The boys and girls have been busy practicing their fine motor skills with the peg boards, tweezers and threading boards, along with our Playdough disco and paper cutting art.
I want to wish all of the boys and girls a very happy Halloween and I am really looking forward to seeing them after the break for another very busy term filled with lots of exciting things! Ms. Delaney.
