The students had lots of fun this term learning about listening to the stories Sharing a shell and The Snail and the Whale. We learnt about different sea creatures, the ocean and rock pools and made some sea creature art and biscuits. During Active Week we got to try out different activities like yoga, basketball and dancing. Tug of War was one of our favourites! We have been busy swimming and going to the beach for Liquid Therapy sessions and had great fun in the waves. We had some lovely sunny days so we made sure to go for a walk and spot the summer flowers in Munday's field and have some outdoor play with water and bubbles. Everyone enjoyed going on their school tours this year, especially going down the slides!
Welcome to the Rock Hub 2
Term 2
The students have being going to the hall every morning to complete different exercises to develop their gross motor skills. We love using the hand and foot twister carts, having races and using the scooter board. We have been practising playground games and enjoying walks to Munday's field to look for signs of winter and spring. The students all about 3D shapes and have been practising counting, adding and comparing numbers. The older students have been working on subtraction , pattern, multiplication and fractions. We did some procedural writing where we made some pizza and Shamrock shakes for St. Patrick's Day. We listened to some sensory stories and learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly. We also checked out the tadpoles in the outdoor classroom and learnt all about the life cycle of a frog. The Rock Hub have started back at swimming lessons and are really enjoying them!
We have enjoyed playing new games together this term. Some of the students have been working hard on their typing skills. The children have been busy preparing for Christmas. They have been practising for their Christmas plays, singing and dancing to winter songs and creating Christmas art. They used their cutting skills to make reindeer out of different shapes. They enjoyed construction play with magnetic shapes. They all enjoyed trips to the cinema and some students went to see the Christmas tree festival in St. Anne's church.
The students have been busy this term. They have enjoyed going for nature walks and spotting signs of autumn. We have also been visiting the church on our walk. We have had lots of sensory play, especially in the inflatable canoe!We love jumping on the trampoline and have been working on our cutting and gross motor skills. We learnt all about place value and shapes in Maths and the younger students have doing lots of counting practice. We enjoyed a trip to see Kensuke's Kingdom in the Abbey Centre. We read the stories The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom and had lots of fun playing with the characters from the story. The students have really enjoyed choosing their own stories and reading books using online apps. We have been practising lots of songs and rhymes and love moving to music. We also had some birthday celebrations in the classroom.
