ACTIVE SCHOOL WEEK
12th - 16th June 2023
Monday 12th June - Yoga with Catherine
We kicked off Active School Week on Monday 12th June with yoga with Catherine. We had great fun practising our Downward Dog and Tree poses. Many thanks to Catherine McGagh for coming in. We felt very zen after all our stretching!
Tuesday 13th Water Safety Talk - Aiden McGuinness
On Tuesday 13th, all classes attended a Water Safety Talk with Aiden McGuinness. This tied in nicely with our focus strand (Aquatics) and with our Green Schools theme (Water). The talk was very interesting and informative and Aiden reminded us of all the rules around Water Safety at the beach, at the pool, on the farm and out and about. He also gave us some great tips on what to do if someone gets into trouble in the water and reminded us of S.A.F.E (Stay Away From Edges). Thank you Aiden for a very in-depth and useful talk.
Tuesday 13th June - Skipathon
On Tuesday, we also participated in a school wide Skipathon with the help of Emer and Ivan O'Mahony. We integrated maths (graphs) and geography (maps) by skipping the distance from Malin Head to Mizen Head. We had great fun and we were absolutely over the moon when we reached our target! Thank you very much to Emer and Ivan O'Mahony for all their help and support.
Wednesday 14th June - Zumba with Barbara
On Wednesday 14th June, all classes participated in zumba with Barbara. We really loved zumba - it was so energetic and fun! Even the parents had a go! Many thanks to Barbara for her zest and enthusiasm. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all. Check out the video above to see a quick snippet of 5th and 6th class enjoying zumba!
