Welcome to First Class
June 2023
We have had a very busy term again in first class.
Earlier in the term we went on a trip to the Abbey Art Centre to watch a live performance of Dr Doolittle by the Barking Dog theatre company.
We have been very busy with PE during this term. As well as completing the final five weeks of our swimming programme we have done gymnastics, Gaelic football, soccer and dodgeball.
In Science we studied plant and animal life and carried out experiments to establish the factors needed for plants to grow. We learned about the different materials in the world around us and learned how materials such as rubber, cotton and glass are produced. We also learned about the water cycle and the importance of conserving water.
We made the most of the warm weather over the last few weeks by enjoying lessons in our outdoor classroom as well as using the school field for playground games.
We really enjoyed Active Schools Week and our ‘Sports for All’ day last week. We loved participating in all the different events such as Tug o’ War, Zumba dancing, yoga, Skipathon and obstacle courses. We particularly enjoyed participating in the more traditional sorts day events such as egg and spoon races, sack races and three legged races.
We are really looking forward to going on our school tour to Lurgybrack Open Farm on Wednesday and will post photos of our trip on this page in the coming days.
