Welcome to Junior Infants 23/24
Easter News...!
|
What a busy few months in Junior Infants. Since Christmas we have enjoyed lots of lovely celebrations from St. Brigid’s Day to Pancake Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day to Easter and we’ve loved all the treats from our parents for Pancake Tuesday and our Easter Hunt!
We’ve been working very hard in Junior Infants especially during stations with Ms Sweeney where we’ve been practising our reading and phonological awareness skills. We get to play lots of fun games during stations. We also got to listen to stories from 5th & 6th class for World Book Day in the hall and Mrs Lewis read us a story about a poor penguin who was lost! We have visited the airport and the farm during playtime, have built lots of different things using Lego and straws and we really enjoyed using the magnetic boards to create pictures! We started ‘a walk on Wednesday’, our ‘Run around Europe’ and got to go to The Abbey Centre to see ‘There Was an Old Lady That Swallowed A Fly’ which we really enjoyed! We have also been using the iPads to ‘Teach Our Monster To Read’ and it’s been great fun working with our partner. We also have yard buddies come to our yard to play games with us and because we we’re doing good listening and working hard, we had a jelly disco!! Well done Junior Infants on a very busy term and have a lovely Easter! |
Happy Christmas!!
We have had such a busy few weeks in Junior Infants. We have been working so hard and learning all about our numbers 1 and 2. We have been using our Maths eyes and finding lots of sets around our school and at home. We have also been doing some yoga in our class, we love learning dances on Kidzbop and we really enjoyed learning a Christmas dance called ‘Christmas Lights!’
We have started learning how to read! We have learned the sounds s, a, t, i, p, n, ck, e and h, and we have met some characters in our reading books just like us, Emma and Luke. We have used our playdoh to make letters, our names, things that are long and short, we even made some reindeers! We are really enjoying using our whiteboards to practise writing our letters too. This term in Aistear we enjoyed exploring all about the restaurant, pretending to be chefs, waitresses and customers. We really enjoyed performing our Christmas concert for all the Mum’s, Dad’s and everyone who came to watch us! Happy Christmas everyone!! |

Term 1!
Ms Martin's boys and girls have had a very busy first term in Holy Family NS. We have been working very hard practising our school rules, learning lots of songs and rhymes, listening to stories, playing nicely on yard together and making lots of new friends.
We really loved Maths week last week, especially trying to find the principal puzzles. Mrs Lewis was very good at hiding them but we always found them! We have been busy sorting in Maths, warming up our hands before doing our writing tasks, using magnetic boards to create amazing pictures, using pegs to copy patterns and having lots of fun with our Playdoh disco on Fridays! We have also been very busy getting ready for Halloween. We have been dressing up as witches and wizards and creating potions in our potion lab during Aistear. Well done Junior Infants on a super first term!
